Steelguard 851
PPG STEELGUARD 851 is a one-component, thin-film solvent-borne intumescent coating designed to provide passive fire protection for structural steel. When exposed to high temperatures during a fire, the coating expands to form an insulating char layer that protects the steel from reaching critical temperatures and structural failure.
Designed for efficiency and durability, STEELGUARD 851 delivers fire resistance for up to 120 minutes while maintaining a smooth architectural finish suitable for exposed steel structures. The fast-drying formulation allows for short handling times and efficient project timelines.
The coating can be applied either on-site or off-site and is suitable for a wide range of commercial and infrastructure projects including buildings, stadiums, airports and industrial facilities where reliable fire protection is required.
